What prevents digging underneath the fence?Updated 2 months ago
We have been fine-tuning our fencing system for over 20 years now, and have tweaked the design to address all the ways cats may attempt to make their escape!
Along the bottom, we include a welded wire fence material that is bent into an "L" shape. The bottom part of the "L" is staked tight to the ground with included 12" ground stakes. Then, the top part runs vertically and is secured to the upper mesh where they overlap. This creates a chew and dig-proof barrier along the bottom of the fence line to prevent escapes. This ensures that there are no easy ways out along the bottom!
The added benefit of this part of the fence is that it can also prevent outside animals from digging into the fenced area. If you are not concerned with your own cat(s) digging out, but want to ensure no other animal can dig in, then you may choose to position the "L" shape with the flared bottom pointed outward rather than inward.
