Does the Tree Guard cause injury/damage to the tree?Updated 2 months ago

The tree guard is secured to the tree using screws, however, to limit the number of screws that are required, wooden strips are first attached to the tree. Then, any additional fasteners are secured into the wooden strips rather than directly into the tree.

When attaching something to a tree with a screw or any other fastener, it is technically considered an injury to the tree if the fastener goes into the tree past the outer bark. Because of this, it is not recommended to secure any item to a weak tree (for example, a tree that is showing signs of stress or disease, or a young tree). From our understanding, healthy mature trees can typically heal the injury on their own without any problems or permanent damage.
