Do I need to have utilities marked before installation?Updated 2 months ago
The Freestanding Fence posts are anchored using a component called a ground sleeve. Ground sleeves have a total length of 24" and should be driven into the ground between 16-22". The depth of underground utilities is determined by local code, and code varies from one location to another so there is no standard depth for most utilities.
Because of this, it is best practice to contact your local utility marking service before installing, especially if there is any chance of buried electrical, gas, water, irrigation, or communication lines in the area.
In most areas, this service is free and easy to schedule (often referred to as “Call 811”). Once utilities are marked, you can confidently place posts while avoiding any underground lines. It's a small step that can prevent a big headache!
