Can you remove and reuse the ground sleeves?Updated 2 months ago
It is typically possible to remove the ground sleeves and relocate/reuse them. We recommend using channel locks, but pliers can also work.
Steps:
- Insert a post inside the sleeve (or perhaps it has not been removed yet).
- In a controlled fashion, start to rock the post front to back, left to right, and around in circles. It will eventually start to move in a wider and wider pattern as the soil around the sleeve loosens.
- Once you get it to move so that gaps develop around the sleeve (about the width of a pinky finger), then remove the post from the sleeve.
- Use the channel locks, or pliers, to securely grip the edge of the sleeve and pull it up vertically. Remember to use good form for this: Pull up with your legs, not your back!
If you cannot get it free, repeat the steps. If the ground is dry consider wetting it thoroughly around the sleeve prior to beginning the steps.
If you are unable to remove the sleeves or damage them in the process, individual ground sleeves are available for purchase.
